Stage 4: Customize the browser
In the fourth stage of the IEAK wizard, you can customize the following parts of the browser and the Web Integrated Desktop:
- The browser title bar and toolbar background bitmap. When you select a bitmap, make sure that the colors contrast with text.
- Start and search pages for the browser.
- Favorite links, favorites folders, and links.
- Desktop items. To use your desktop as the default for your organization, click Import. To display the Display Properties dialog box, click Modify.
- A welcome page that appears the first time users run the browser. You can specify the default Microsoft Internet Explorer welcome page or a custom page.
- Desktop toolbar settings that you import from your desktop.
- Up to 10 folder Web views. If you haven't already created folder Web views, click Edit to create them. Click a folder, and then click Explore to see the Web view.
- User agent string. This string can help identify your customized browser at Web sites that track browser statistics.
- Enable automatic configuration with the IEAK Profile Manager. For more information about creating auto-proxy files, see JavaScript Auto-Proxy Example Files.
- Per-user intranet settings. These settings can be set and changed in the IEAK Profile Manager.
- If you're a service provider, specify sign-up information in this step. See Creating a Server-Based Sign-up Package, Creating a Non-Server-Based Sign-up Package, and Setting up a Sign-up Server for more information.
- Site certificates and Authenticode security.
- Security zone information.
- Custom commands or files. These are placed in a Custom folder in the Internet Explorer installation folder.
